Kozhikode Cyberpark Is Getting Ready for April 2016. 2000 Direct IT Jobs in First Phase.
Finally, Calicut Cyberpark construction phase is reaching its final stages. Reports indicates that the main building of the IT park, which is a seven storied building, will be ready by April 2016 as per current plans. As per media reports, Cyberpark CEO Ajith Kumar indicated that the remaining civil works will be over by December and the MEP and interior works are expected to be completed by March, making the park ready for operations by April 2016.
It was a long Journey. Government of Kerala announced its decision to promote Kozhikode as an IT hub in January 2007. The proposal to set up an IT park in Kozhikode came in the announcement of the State Government’s IT policy made by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan. The construction activities started in 2009 but got delayed because of many different reasons. Finally the Park Centre of Cybercity Kozhikode was formally opened by Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikuttty on 15 February 2014.
The main building once operational, is expected to generate 2000 direct IT jobs initially. As per reports, start up companies will get preferences and an area of 10,000 square feet will be allocated for them.
Kozhikode Cyberpark Companies
There are a number of companies already started functioning from Kozhikode Cyberpark. Currently they are operating from the Park Centre building. Here is the list of the companies from the official website.

There are over 40 small sized IT/web development companies presently operating in and around Kozhikode, in different locations. The KINFRA Park at Kakkancherry has accommodated 16 companies. The NIT, Kozhikode has incubated about 14 companies. There are two professional organizations – CiTi – Kozhikode IT initiative and Caffit are well known for their activities including organizing IT related seminars and workshops in association with NASSCOM and KSITM.
Recently inaugurated Hilite Business Centre also hosts some of the IT companies. CAFIT Square in Hilite Business Park accommodates a number of IT companies.
UL Cyberpark and Companies in Kozhikode UL Cyberpark
Along with Government Cyberpark, the co-operative Uralungal society started the construction of UL cyberpark. UL Cyberpark building construction completed as planned and is ready for allotments. UL Cyberpark is a LEED certified IT Park rated for Gold standards and is also part of the Kozhikode Cyberpark SEZ. UL Cyberpark has a total building area of 482,000 sq ft.

At full capacity, the Cyberpark is expected to provide direct employment to 30000 IT professionals. It will have facilities to accommodate 30000 middle class, income-tax-paying people and their presence in the city will results in dramatic changes in various sectors including housing, education, hospitality, entertainment,retail, healthcare and transportation.
Kozhikode is blessed with highly educated workforce and premium educational institutes such as IIMK (IIM Kozhikode) and National Institute of Technology Calicut (Formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, and now a Deemed University).
