Cyberpark Kozhikode Inaugurated. Calicut is on IT Map.
The first step towards the realization of Kozhikode Cyberpark is completed. The mega IT project that is expected to bring dramatic changes to the sleeping historic city of Calicut is in the news again.Park Center of the Cyberpark is officially inaugurated. Even though the main building of Cyber Park Kozhikode is still under construction, Minister for Industries and IT, Shri P. K. Kunhalikutty, inaugurated Cyberpark Kozhikode on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Cyberpark becomes the third IT hub of the State and this event placed the city prominently on the India’s IT map.
The Park Centre has an area of 11,000 sq ft. The building has two floors, a main conference hall, a mini conference hall, two guest rooms, and a cafeteria. Park Center hosts the park’s administrative office and three software development companies.
The construction work of first IT building with an area of .288 million SF is also inaugurated. This building is expected to be ready by April 2015. The seven storied first IT building is expected to cost around 44.19 crores. Also the construction of the 20MW 110KV substation needs to be ready for the functioning of the park.

The good news is that government planned a 3rd IT building with an area of .33 million SF and is in the design phase.
The 4 lane road is an example of properly planned infrastructure development that is the need of today. the 1.5 KM road is constructed with an estimated cost of around 20 crores.

Media reports that three small IT firms are starting their operations from the Park Centre and the space is already allocated.
Even though the government IT park is lagging behind schedule these new developments generates new hopes and the IT dreams of Malabar is budding again. Cyberpark along with the UL Park, which is in its final stages of construction, will hopefully change Calicut into Kerala’s third IT hub.
