Kozhikode Government Cyberpark Sahya IT Building Opens on 29th May
The great Kozhikode IT dream, ready to get another boost on 29th of May. The first Government IT park building in Calicut, ‘Sahya’ will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan. This will mark another major step towards the dream of making Calicut the third IT industry hub of Kerala after Thiruvavanthapuram and Kochi.
Few months back Mr. Hrishikesh Nair appointed as the CEO of Cyberpark and also we saw a number of companies starting their operations from Kozhikode. There are few big names are already added to the list of IT companies in Kozhikode. That includes FullContact Inc and Runbook. The ambitious IT plans for Kozhikode is also triggered development of supporting sectors such as housing and hospitality.
The new IT building is named as Sahya. Sahya is constructed in 4.7 acres of land with seven stories and can accommodate 2500 IT professionals in a an area of 2.88 lakh square feet. This will generate an additional 6000 indirect jobs around Cyberpark.
The foundation stone for the government IT park was laid in 2010 and it took almost sever years to complete the IT park.The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 70.5 crore using the fund from NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. In the meantime we saw the completion of Uralungal Society’s UL Cyberpark started functionaing and attracting many companies to its campus.
A 10000 sq.ft cafeteria, Confererence halls etc will started functioning along with the park. On the ground floor, there will be six ready-to-occupy units ranging from 25 to 71 seats. The double basement area will be reserved for convenient parking. The park has many state of the art plug and play facilities including,
- 10000 sq.ft cafeteria n first floor
- Conference hall and prayer room
- Second floor has offices with 800-900 sq.ft targetting small IT companies
- Third, Fourth and fifth floor are for big IT companies and has space up-to 4000 sq.ft in each modules.
- Office space designed both as Smart Business Center and Warm Shelf Space.
Malabar is expected to witness a surge in IT industries growth with the inauguration of Cyberpark. Government Cyberpark, UL Cyberpark and Cafit all hosts a number of IT companies. Cyberpark quick space already has a number of companies operating from there including Aufait Technologies, Ceino, Montura VFX, Techolks etc. UL Park already have a number of companies operating from their space and is almost completely rented out its available space.
Aufait Technologies has already taken space in the new Cyberpark IT building. Other companies moving to Sahya includes Vinam IT and Mini Mailster which are currently operating from Hilite business park. As per cyberpark CEO, they are in the process of creating additional 6,000 sq.ft of IT built-up space for startup companies as second phase development.
To attract IT investment in city requires improvements of infrastructure including road and air connectivity. Though Kozhikode has international airport, the number of flights and restrictions on wide body aircraft are a concern.
